Your Screen Time Data is 100% Private

Let's be crystal clear about what we can and cannot see:

Your Screen Time data stays on YOUR device, encrypted by Apple. We have ZERO access to it—we built unhookd specifically to protect this privacy.

What We Collect (OPT-IN ONLY)

Anonymous unhookd App Usage (via Mixpanel)

What We Track (if you opt in):

• In-App Actions: Button taps, screen views, feature usage within unhookd
• Session Data: When you open/close unhookd, session duration
• Device Context: Device model and iOS version
• General Location: City/region only (from IP address, not GPS)
• Technical Issues: Crash reports and error diagnostics

What Makes It Anonymous: All data uses a random identifier—not your name, email, or Apple ID.

Important: This does NOT include your Screen Time data or which apps you block.

What We Don't Collect

• Your Screen Time data (which apps you block/unblock, time spent on apps)
• Your identity (no name, email, phone, or account information)
• Personal data (browsing history, precise GPS location, contacts, photos, messages)
• Your blocked apps list (ZERO visibility into slot contents)

How unhookd Works

Third-Party Services

Mixpanel (Analytics - OPT-IN ONLY)

• Purpose: Understand how people use unhookd to fix bugs and improve features
• What They See (if you opt in): Anonymous interaction data within unhookd only
• What They DON'T See: Your Screen Time data, which apps you block, or your identity
• Your Control: Opt in/out anytime in Settings → Privacy → Share Anonymous Analytics
• Data Retention: 2 years

RevenueCat (Subscriptions)

• Purpose: Manage subscriptions through Apple's payment system
• What They See: Subscription status and purchase receipts (handled by Apple)
• Your Control: Managed through Apple ID subscription settings
• Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

What We DON'T Do:

• No advertising networks or ad tracking
• No data brokers or data selling
• No cross-app tracking
• No sharing of Screen Time data

Why We Collect Analytics (If You Opt In)

If you choose to share analytics, we use anonymous unhookd app usage to:

• Improve User Experience - Understand which features are valuable and identify confusing UI flows
• Fix Bugs - Detect crashes and compatibility issues
• Measure Performance - Track feature adoption and make data-driven decisions
• Optimize Speed - Identify bottlenecks and ensure iOS compatibility

We do NOT sell data, use it for advertising, share with data brokers, or track you across other apps. Sharing is completely optional and OPT-IN only.

Data Retention

• Your Slot Data: Stored locally on your device, deleted when you uninstall unhookd
• Analytics Data (if you opt in): Stored on Mixpanel servers for 2 years, anonymous by design
• Crash Reports (if you opt in): Stored for 90 days, technical information only

Your Privacy Choices

Opt In or Out of Analytics

1. Open unhookd app
2. Go to Settings → Privacy
3. Toggle "Share Anonymous Analytics" ON or OFF

Delete Analytics Data

Email support@unhookd.app with subject "Delete Analytics Data" and your approximate signup date. Response within 30 days.

Note: Because data is anonymous, we cannot identify specific users but can delete data matching your timeframe.

Data Security

Your Screen Time data stays on your device, encrypted by Apple. Analytics data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS to Mixpanel servers that comply with SOC 2, GDPR, and CCPA standards.

International Data Transfers

unhookd is based in the United States. Analytics data may be transferred to Mixpanel servers in the US or other countries. Mixpanel complies with GDPR and CCPA.

Your Screen Time data never leaves your device.

Children's Privacy (Ages 13+)

unhookd is for ages 13+. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

For ages 13-17: Parental consent recommended. Parents can request data deletion anytime at support@unhookd.app.

If your child under 13 is using unhookd: Email support@unhookd.app—we will immediately delete their data and block access.

Your Rights

Under GDPR (European Users)

Right to access, delete, opt out of analytics, and data portability.

Under CCPA (California Users)

Right to know what we collect, delete your data, and opt out of sales (we don't sell data).

Note: Because analytics data is anonymous, we cannot identify or delete data for specific users. You can opt out of future collection in Settings → Privacy.

App Store Privacy Label

Data Linked to You (via anonymous identifier):

• Product Interaction: Button clicks, feature usage, session data within unhookd
• Coarse Location: City/region/country (from IP, not GPS)
• Other Diagnostic Data: Device model, iOS version, app version

Data Not Linked to You:

• Device Identifier & Purchase History: For subscription management only (RevenueCat)

Tracking Status:

• We do NOT track you for advertising
• We do NOT track you across other apps/websites
• We do NOT share data with data brokers

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date will reflect changes. We'll notify you of significant changes through in-app notifications or App Store update notes.
